Hello
Friends, peers, family or another fellow abuse victim. I wanted to create a safe blog where I could realistically help others go through the journey I went through to becoming me again.
Where do I begin? Well it was the early spring of 2015. I had just turned 23. A very handsome man had sent me a message on social media. I had just recently left a 6 year relationship. My first love. My daughters father. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I felt excitement towards the message received. To feel wanted again after many years of chaos.
One Friday night I was sick, currently in nursing school so I was off for the weekend. My daughter was at her fathers. The handsome man invited me out for dinner. I accepted. At the time I was bored, I didn’t have any interest in him at all. I also didn’t think he was attractive at all in the beginning.
Well we went out to browns. Oh I forgot to tell you. It’s was 2015, so guys usually didn’t offer to pick you up for dates. But mine did and I accepted. As the guys I dated or had previously seen didn’t ever offer. It made me feel extremely excited as I felt. Maybe this was a real man?
The handsome man picked me up in his big truck. I was young. I was intrigued. We immediately connected on a level I had never experienced. Chemistry overload, like a science experiment that had blown up. Dinner went great and from than on, we were inseparable.
The first few months flew by. We both were very active and enjoyed sharing the gym together. He would show up randomly with flowers. He was a true heart throb. I very quickly fell in love with mr.handsome. I had never experienced the way he treated me before.
Approximately 5 months in. I remember fighting. I remember so consciously standing in my bedroom at my aunts. I remember as the sun bared through the window on our faces. The feeling I allowed myself to ignore. I felt he wanted or was going to hit me.
This is just a time piece in a very long and devastating Story about mr.handsome and what I went through mentally, physically and emotionally. The story will take time to tell, but as I graciously share the story. I hope to help others learn from gut feelings, warning signs, and how to help yourself after the relationship has ended.
Till next time, here’s the introduction to chapter 1.
